What patterns are in nature, from fruits to flowers? what is the golden ratio? Who is Pythagoras? What does Leonardo say about the human hand? What does perspective mean? What is geometry in nature? What is Fibonacci and how will that help me draw? How are domes built?
Geometry
The blueprint of your child's journey begins here. Kidometry you can expect a holistic and reflective course drawing primary shapes, developing patterns over time. The practice of geometry consolidates and centres one's understanding of spatial design. It is also a meditative creative space. They will learn to sketch, paint and design their own compositions. All the while they will have learnt about numbers, nature, geometric design and little bytes of philosophy and art history. We encourage crafts based guilds as these are more practical and help children to develop motor skills. I also encourage students to use natural paints as opposed to acrylics as part of an eco drive.
Curriculum
Practical design and painting courses to help you understand the 'grammar of ornament' across the expanse of different traditions are covered here. An historic, ethnocentric and indigenous understanding of pattern design is provided. But more importantly we follow the national curriculum for KS2, KS3, KS4 and GCSE
Painting and Portfolio
Traditional Ateliers and Kidometry provides 'couture' classes to help you build up your portfolio of artisan skills. From drawing, painting and composition skills, to applied crafts that can be taught online. Miniature Paintings, Gilding, Shell gold, and carving techniques are all available here. All our classes are catered to age appropriate content. But we believe strongly that children rise to the occasion when it comes to creativity.
